My Boys! - Whatcom County Child Photographer

Oh how I love the two little men in my life!
I do love them, but sometimes they can be tough to photograph (especially because I am their mother).  So, here are a few tips for other parents that may be encountering the same situation:
1. For younger children (Wyatt is 18 months), try placing them in a chair in taller grass & take off their shoes.  This can buy you about 3.25 seconds before they get frustrated by not wanting to run off without shoes.
2. Don't let the stubborn attitude of a 3 year old get you flustered.  Instead, shoot even those moments (pouty faces & all) because even when they aren't looking they are beautiful and can produce a 'moody' image that can be cherished!
3. Never forget the power of a compliment!  Weston changed from not looking at the camera and pouting to smiling through complimenting his looks and then asking him about one of his favorite topics (his new kittens).  Wonderful images can be produced during an engaging conversation with a child, rather than telling them to say 'cheese'.

Sweet Girl - Whatcom County Child Photographer

Here is a sneak peak of baby 'K'.  It was a beautiful day out at Hovander Park having fun trying to get this mobile one year old to stay in one place:)  But she sure did seem to enjoy the comfy wicker rocker.

Baby Hayden - Whatcom County Infant Photographer

I had the opportunity to photograph Hayden when she was merely days old, and was so excited to see her again six month later when her mom brought her over to my house for a photo session.  She was such a trooper when we were playing around both inside and out!

Three Boys - Whatcom County Child Photographer

Wow...it has been awhile!  Cannot believe that I did not get these handsome young boys up on my blog sooner.  Back in June I had the chance to hang out with my nephews during a photo session.  Though I may be a little bit partial (since I have two of my own), but I absolutely love the 'goofyness' that can be evoked in little boys when given the chance to play around during a photography session.  Just by asking them 'show me how old you are?' or 'what sound does a train make?' can make them light up and relax.  And then the images to follow often end up to be parents favorites.
